An update

Firstly I want to say thank you blogville. Thank you so much to each and every one of you who has shared Marys (now MJ) story in the hope of finding her a forever home. I knew that blogville was an amazing place to be, but until those wheels start turning on your behalf you never truly understand how many amazing animal lovers there are in this place we like to call home.

I would like to make a special mention to some of you who have pulled out all the stops:

Savannah and Leo, you and your mum have been amazing, organising the treasure chest, the transport and making MJ the very first of your “play it forward series” (I feel confident to call it a series, as I know the next time a call comes in you will be the first to offer a paw of help!) Everyone here has been blown away by your passion and skill with which you pulled everything together.

Mollie and Alfie, hunting down a good friend and finding a potential home for MJ was amazing – thank you.

Mollie & Alfie look like they have already heard the news!

Rumpy, thank you to you and the whole gang for taking the time to interview MJ and share her story with your readers.

(If any of you would rather I removed your photos please growl at typist and she will!)

Clowie, Easy, the gang at Brians home and everyone at Mumsys (and anyone else stupid typist has forgotten) who has blogged/tweeted/shared her story thank you!

Now onto the news, as most of you will have seen from the lovely Savannahs blog. Mary has now been renamed MJ and was happily enjoying life at the vets, enchanting everyone she met including the two Labradors that sometimes hung out there. During the day she had the run of the office, on an evening she was let loose in the kennels area at weekends she went home with one of the nurses, the only thing missing was her forever family to love. And it looked like this was about to change, as typist received an email late Wednesday night saying that a new home had been offered for MJ -woo hoo time to celebrate I hoped. Typist rang the vets to give them the good news, and was told that MJ had been moved to the Blue Cross, as they had a space for her and thought the chances of her finding a home were better with a rescue. So typist rang the Blue Cross…. I had to put away my half blown up pawty balloons when I overheard typist conversations with the Blue Cross.

Unfortunately when MJ arrived they noticed she seemed to be urinating a lot and so wanted to run some tests to make sure everything was a-ok with her. The results came back this morning and unfortunately it is not the news we had all kept our paws crossed for – the tests are showing MJ has diabetes. At this stage I do not know much more than that as it was a quick call to update me and typist on progress whilst she was being taken to the vets. The sad news is that this has put the halt on her potential forever home as the people stepping forwards have had to withdraw their offer, and there is now a urgent hunt on for a local foster home who can take MJ on as ‘cats with diabetes don’t do so well in a rescue.’

I will update you with more info when I have it, but for now keep your paws crossed, and enjoy these lovely photos! (There will be a video if typists computer ever starts behaving!)

  1. Thank you Basil…play bows to you and typist. It has been my and Leo’s pleasure to spend time helping MJ find a forever home…and even with diabetes…we won’t stop working on her behalf. Surely someone will be willing to take a special needs kitty into their home and offer her a chance to grow old with them….paw hugs, Savannah, Mom Linda and Foster Brofur Leo

  2. Deeply unfair for MJ :(. However, she is young and can get used to the injections. My aunt had am older cat and he lived another five years after the diabetes diagnosis. Fingers crossed a foster home can be found, and soon.

  4. Precious little girl..she has been thru so much!!! We send our prayers for MJ to get stabilized & into a foster home & then into a furever home that she so richly deseerves!!! Thank you for sharing MJ with all of us!!!
    Sherri-Ellen & Nylablue too.

  5. Oh such sad news. Poor MJ – she just can’t catch a break. I hope someone can see past her all-too-common disease and give her a chance at a great new life.

  6. So very sorry to hear the news about MJ……this of course will make it tougher for her to find that forever home she SOOOO deserves but here’s hoping it happens – there are lots of people who really want to take on an animal who needs more help than the usual….because they know the chances of someone else stepping up are small. Bless you for keeping tabs on her and letting us know what’s going on with her. Our fingers and paws are crossed for MJ…………and will stay that way until we hear she’s found her home.

    Hugs, Pam and Sam

  7. Oh, we are so sorry to hear the news about sweet little MJ’s latest health issues. We will keep praying that soon the loving, forever home that sweet baby needs will be found. We will add a link back to your pages in hopes it will help to find her forever home. Hugs and nose kisses

  9. She seems so sweet, there MUST be a furrever home for her somewhere. I am keeping my paws crossed and sending purrs.

Also I wanted to thank you for your birthday wishes for my purrthday, on Texas’ blog. I know I am terribly terribly late, and I apologize and so I send you plenty of purrs!

    • It’s is good that you worry you are late (your not) – makes typist feel slightly less rubbish, as she is forever worrying she has left things to long! I do hope you had a lovely day?!

I'd love to hear from....what do you think?
