Firstly I want to say thank you blogville. Thank you so much to each and every one of you who has shared Marys (now MJ) story in the hope of finding her a forever home. I knew that blogville was an amazing place to be, but until those wheels start turning on your behalf you never truly understand how many amazing animal lovers there are in this place we like to call home.
I would like to make a special mention to some of you who have pulled out all the stops:
Savannah and Leo, you and your mum have been amazing, organising the treasure chest, the transport and making MJ the very first of your “play it forward series” (I feel confident to call it a series, as I know the next time a call comes in you will be the first to offer a paw of help!) Everyone here has been blown away by your passion and skill with which you pulled everything together.
Mollie and Alfie, hunting down a good friend and finding a potential home for MJ was amazing – thank you.
Rumpy, thank you to you and the whole gang for taking the time to interview MJ and share her story with your readers.
(If any of you would rather I removed your photos please growl at typist and she will!)
Now onto the news, as most of you will have seen from the lovely Savannahs blog. Mary has now been renamed MJ and was happily enjoying life at the vets, enchanting everyone she met including the two Labradors that sometimes hung out there. During the day she had the run of the office, on an evening she was let loose in the kennels area at weekends she went home with one of the nurses, the only thing missing was her forever family to love. And it looked like this was about to change, as typist received an email late Wednesday night saying that a new home had been offered for MJ -woo hoo time to celebrate I hoped. Typist rang the vets to give them the good news, and was told that MJ had been moved to the Blue Cross, as they had a space for her and thought the chances of her finding a home were better with a rescue. So typist rang the Blue Cross…. I had to put away my half blown up pawty balloons when I overheard typist conversations with the Blue Cross.
Unfortunately when MJ arrived they noticed she seemed to be urinating a lot and so wanted to run some tests to make sure everything was a-ok with her. The results came back this morning and unfortunately it is not the news we had all kept our paws crossed for – the tests are showing MJ has diabetes. At this stage I do not know much more than that as it was a quick call to update me and typist on progress whilst she was being taken to the vets. The sad news is that this has put the halt on her potential forever home as the people stepping forwards have had to withdraw their offer, and there is now a urgent hunt on for a local foster home who can take MJ on as ‘cats with diabetes don’t do so well in a rescue.’
I will update you with more info when I have it, but for now keep your paws crossed, and enjoy these lovely photos! (There will be a video if typists computer ever starts behaving!)
